“gratitude can transform
common days into Thanksgivings,
turn routine jobs into joy
and change ordinary opportunitites
into blessings.”
~william arthur ward
This gratitude journal is designed to last throughout the year. Each day there is a place to write five things you are grateful for.
Professionally printed on 60lb cream paper, the gratitude journal is 5″w x 8″h. It is a soft-bound book that feels much like a paperback novel. The inside page features the above quote from William Arthur Ward. There are three options for you to choose from, each features an original photograph by Amy Gretchen on the cover. You can choose between the beach fence, the mushrooms, and the spider web. Or, perhaps you will want one of each as they are beautiful gifts. Also, these are timeless as they do not have the year imprinted on them; the days of each month are simply numbered. You can find these beautiful journals in the Squam online store.
The Squam staff put together a sweet little video to show you what a beautiful practice the keeping of a gratitude journal can be…(this is my dear friend Elizabeth in the video. Creator/Director of Squam).

January 19, 2012
Ahhh this is what my heart has been searching for!
I need to focus more on the little things I am so grateful for, rather than wasting energy on negative thoughts and things. 2012 is a year of change, of peace, of beauty, of soul, of love and of gratitude.
When I think about my year so far, there are many things I am grateful for. I am grateful that I have a fabulous, sexy, intelligent, caring and sweet husband. I am grateful that I have a supportive, hilarious and loving family. I have a job that I love, and a house that I adore. I am focussing more on myself – on what makes ME tick, what I want and need, what it is that makes my heart SING. And 2012 is about doing more of what I love, even if it is not what I “should” be doing.
Much love xx

I am also always grateful for my daughter and husband who are traveling with me on this journey.
January 20, 2012

January 20, 2012
creating a daily practice of gratitude is one of our family missions for 2012.
Personally, after 6 years of living in another country for work, I am so grateful to be back in the country we call home. While I was grateful for the experience while there (and truth be told, I am eager to get back and visit), there is something inexplicably wonderful about being back in the country that is part of your soul and is where your extended family lives. While we may not be able to drive down the street to visit, there is something consoling that you can be near them with a four hour plane ride.

I am grateful for the blessing of cultures. Being able to live in a culture so different from America’s, even if only for a little while, is such a blessing. To see how fortunate I am because I have food to eat and a comfortable home to live in. I am thankful for seeing the things that I have and knowing how blessed I truly am!

Oooh, so, so good. I’ve been thinking I need a beautiful journal for myself. Maybe this gratitude journal is what I am looking for.
I am grateful that I now have the time to focus on my daughter and on really nurturing and honoring her own self. I’m grateful things have fallen into place so smoothly that we are able to begin this journey for the both of us to find what makes us thrive.

I am grateful for my life. This summer I was in the a major hospital in Toronto for two months because of pancreatitis that came *very* close to taking my life. At one point they said there was a 70% chance I would die because my entire body was shutting down, including my kidneys, so I had to have 8 hours of dialysis every day. I had a breathing tube and a feeding tube and a big IV in my neck but I don’t remember any of that because I was in a medically induced coma for most of it, thank god. My mom and husband went through hell, sitting with me every moment they could even though I wasn’t really “there”.
When I woke up, I had no idea what had happened and they had to explain to me that during my time at the Toronto hospital, they had to cut my belly open from the bottom of my ribs all the way down to the top of my pubic hair so they could drain the fluid that was building up in my body due to my illness so I had a giant open wound on my abdomen and also since I hadn’t been out of bed in 6 weeks, I had to relearn how to walk and that was really hard. I still have trouble going up and down stairs.
So I’m grateful for my life. More grateful than I’ve ever been before. Never again will I say “life sucks” because I’m just too damn happy to have one.
