The rain is now a mist. The sun stretching its rays above us. Flowers we never knew we had are beginning to bloom around our home. I’ve paddled a Canoe. Cedar has fished with his daddy. Marybeth (seen with basket above) nourishes us with strawberries at the park. We painted a picnic table for our back yard a gorgeous turquoise while Cedar was napping. We also drank root beer floats that day. My neighbor lets me come over and pick flowers to put in my mason jars. She has an enchanting garden. A witch once lived in her house. I think it was cast with a garden spell. I found a gorgeous antique cabinet for my tinctures and nature medicine. We sleep in and stay up late. My niece is coming tomorrow with her fiance. I am taking engagement photos of them. I plan on doing one downtown with a vintage bike and ice cream cones. My new favorite flavor of ice cream is licorice and orange. Cedar is awesome at balancing himself on big logs laying on the ground. He also stands on boulders and pretends its a stage. I am trying to hoola hoop but cannot keep it on my waist. I am being patient. I am rarely on the computer. My life has completely shifted. I am craving quiet and peace and solitude in nature. I am feeling God. I want to sit with the Dalai Lama. I wish I could walk with Buddha. I am having conversations with Jesus. I am resting on Mother Earth. I am crying with Father Sky. I am bleeding with Sister Moon. I am listening to and honoring my needs. I am navigating my way through parenting while trying to stay aware of my projections and Cedar’s heart and needs. I am in awe of how funny both of my boys are. I am just BE-ing…simmering…slowing…releasing…recreating…remembering…me.
and…HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

Your blog is so beautiful and restful to me. I ‘save’ it for when I need a little bit of peace and tranquility because it just….refreshes me. It doesn’t matter what sort of post you have written; it is the overall feel of your little space on the web. Almost as if your blog has a healing, nurturing aura….thank you.

I am trying to keep a hulu hoop around my waist as well. Learning to live with (and appreciate) the fact that all things take time.

Mmmm Yes.

Even through the computer I “feel” exactly what you mean when you talk about your life shifting and the way you describe your spirituality. I am moving near Bellingham next year for school and I am very nervous because I currently live in a very liberal, small town that I adore called Loveland. But the way you describe your transition in Washington helps ease my tensions of moving away from home. I feel so blessed that you live there and have made me look forward to a new town. Thank you.

I’ve never shared here before – a bit shy, but I love hearing about your shifts and your new life. My husband and I are also praying for change and I’ve cried with joy as I’ve read all about your move and the awesome changes that have taken place for you! Thanks for sharing!

I love this post, it absolutely radiates peace!
Also, it has been a wonderful encouragement to me to keep seeking quieter times just “be”ing…even the mention of being patient in hooping – I can hoop on my waist but have been feeling so discouraged of late in my attempts to progress. Too slow, too frustrating! Thankyou for the reminder to be patient.
Your pictures are lovely! Happy July xxx

I echo the desire regarding tips for boho decorating on a budget. Sure I would love to furnish my home w/ the beautiful things from anthropologie, but do not currently have the budget for that. Also, I do not have the time (or the patience) to troll antique shops, estate sales etc. We all want our cake and to eat it too, C’est la vie I suppose! BTW-So happy to see you happy and continuing to share with your online community.

Your photos have been nourishing me since they went up … summer feels so … ?? honestly, I don’t have the right word — there’s such an awakening in me to it. I saw a red gingham lantern at Joann’s yesterday and started crying — so many childhood memories swept and swamped me — it was GOOD crying, but really startled me. The photos of Cedar are how those memories feel in me. I’m so grateful that you share!

I recently learned to hula hoop, too.
The key is not to move your waist in a circle, but in a linear left/right or front/back. let the hoop only touch you in two spots.
and youtube hooping videos. you will get it super fast and soon be able to do tricks!

re: hoola hooping: when I was first learning three things helped a lot:
1. tucking my pelvis slightly
2. standing with a spilt stance – one leg slightly in front of the other
3. changing the direction I was trying to spin the hoop.
have fun!
