pixie, cedar, me…photo by stacy
It seems I have to go back to purge piles or boxes three or four times until I am left with what I truly need or nourishes me. Each time I come back to these piles, I find that I am in a deeper mindset of simplicity, so it is easier to lighten the load and let go of the stuff I was holding onto. I feel like this is a metaphor for my life lately…not just with moving but with all things. The Tao of Packing. ; )

Simplicity is a theme which seems to be running through so many blog posts at the moment…it’s lovely. It must be the Spring approaching for all you Northern hemisphereans!
Moving is stressful, whichever way you look at it. But it’s also such a wonderful opportunity to purge the extraneous, knowing that moving forward onto your next adventure will be lighter already before you’ve even arrived.
What a wonderful goal to focus on.

I love this…the Tao of Packing! I am in the midst of this too and it is so nice to let go. Been thinking of you alot lately but have been in a weird place to reach out. I do look at your pictures and see how fast Cedar is growing. Maybe I’ll just have to make a trek to WA to visit. Love and miss you…M

Moving can be oh so stressful (done it a few dozen times myself) but if you accept it for what it is…”moving”…it can be a wonderfully cathartic experience. Let Go Of The Stuff You Do Not Love. ‘Move’ your body, ‘Move’ your mind, ‘Move’ your stuff.

I completely agree with you. I learned this past summer just how much I loved simplicity. I have lived in a dorm for the past 4 years but this past summer I stayed in one for just a couple of months for an internship. I brought less things and it was wonderful to not have excess lying around I felt calmer and less cluttered. It was wonderful ^_^
Happy packing!

I do the same thing! It’s so much easier for me to get rid of some stuff and go back a day or two later to rid myself of more…. over and over until I only have the things that truely make me smile

i wish you well with all the packing and purging of stuff, the move itself and the fun part of setting up your new home and exploring the beautiful northwest. i hope you all feel healthier, happier and settled soon and that your sweet little cedar understands and enjoys the process of moving and exploring, too.
and i wish i was doing the same. am looking for a new, healthier place for me to live. hope to find just the right place soon and so glad you found yours!

I just want to say how happy I am for you and your family. To be able to move to and settle in a space that makes your hearts sing..is there anything better? I’ve always liked moving and have done it so many times that I’ve lost count
but the purging and lightening feels so incredibly good… I’m seriously teary about this for you. xo
