I just took this photo a few minutes ago and had to share. I knew you’d appreciate it as much as I did. ; ) Sitting, standing or laying down and flipping through pages in a book is Cedar’s favorite place to be. It always has been. With this particular book (Going on a Bear Hunt) he says “uh oh!” with every page and when he gets to the bit about them seeing the bear and running through all the places they had just been, he giggles and giggles. Its just awesome that he gets it…even when he doesn’t know how to read yet (or does he and he is just keeping it secret?).
Boho Boy the Librarian is so thrilled about Cedar’s passion for literature. ; ) I am sure some of you are looking past the book and noticing his Buddha belly. I know…totally pinch and squeeze and raspberry worthy.

Love this. I worked at our public library also–although I was in the communications/marketing/creative dept–and I noticed that the kids that are interested in books and learning in general are the most pleasant, smartest, and well-rounded kids I've ever met. (How's that for a run-on sentence!?)
I think little Mister Cedar is going to make you very, very proud as he grows older. Even through photos, he has a calm and sensibility about him.

Your blog is always so positive…I always read your thoughts as a welcomed break from my studies.
I am a literature teacher, but I am going back to school for occupational therapy in the fall. I'm a little stressed out with all the papers to grade, the skeletal system to memorize, financial aid paperwork to process, and a wedding/move to plan. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

So freakin cute Denise. I swear just when I think it can't get any more obvious how he was made especially for your family it's like each post is another article of evidence that he was made for the two of you and the two of you for him (sigh)…. And he's really starting to get that little boy look about him, not such a babe any more.

Sometimes this is enough to cast my fears away…

hey, me again…just searching around your blog again…going back to read everyone's crafty blog suggestions…AND came across karen maezen miller's link in your sidebar and FINALLY remembered where it was i'd "found" her…on YOUR amazing blog. i've been in a life-altering "momma zen" space ever since beginning her book, and i couldn't for the life of me remember where i'd stumbled upon it…i wanted to go back and thank that person again and again and again… so, thank you. thank you for everything you share in your blog. it's all magic. it's all good.

yeah, totally dug the belly more than the "bigger picture".
I need to go kiss my kids now. Thanks for that.
March 23, 2010
And when was he allowed to get so tall?!
March 23, 2010
Adorable! My son (20 months) loves this book too – though I think he feels sorry for the bear in the end…

Sweetness personified. Speechless.

I remember reading this book to my pile of nieces and nephews. They loved it and I loved hearing their "uh-oh!", just as you do with Cedar.
I can imagine how thrilled Boho Boy is at Cedar's love of books and how often you have to resist kissing that gorgeous puku [belly].
Is there a story you can share, dear Denise, about the necklace Cedar wears? I notice he wears it in most [all?] the photos you post of him.
March 23, 2010
oh..my..gosh!
too cute!
side question: do you leave his necklace on him all the time, or take it off and put it back on when you feel like it..? I was never comfortable leaving a necklace on mine (or maybe it was just that she'd always take it off..?) but I now feel that "permanent" jewelry is possible..

Aww, reminds me of how absorbed I got in books as a child. Good feelings!
Lovely pic, lovely lovely Cedar! ?

that boy of yours is just so so cute. What a cool dude. I really think you can almost get a glimpse of the future in this picture – I can so see him as a five year old, or even a fifteen year old, snuggled on that chair, lost in another world of literature and his own imagination. He's so blessed to have you and Boho boy and such a cool, well, boho, upbringing. He'll do you proud and you already do him proud. love to you all.

cedar is such a sweet little boy – i am in love with his buddha belly and so thrilled for his love of books at such an early age! i am truly thankful that you have given us the chance to peak inside your personal life and share the journey as your child grows & grows!
also, i hope that you don't mind, but i used a picture of you and included a link to your blog on my post for today. i am going to be dreading my hair in several weeks and you have been such an inspiration that i couldn't help but share you with everyone!
namaste!

I love this picture! My boys LOVE books. Long ago when they wanted to buy every toy in every store we were in, I made a concession and told them that when we go shopping they are always welcome to get a book. But NO TOYS. We have very few toys. I am very against them, the reckless spending, the made in China, the plastic…
Anyway! I was watching your vlog and you were talking about fun artsy projects to do with your little one. One thing I used to do with my boys when they were little (they are 7 and 9 now) was lay out blank newspaper, brown paper, or poster board and let them "paint" with pudding! They would be covered with it, they would eat it and they would make GREAT art!
Just an idea

he is the most beautiful thing. i love the way you share him through your loving mama-eye.

hello dear beauties!
cedar is wearing an amber teething necklace. amber has healing properties. its not for chewing, its just for healing.
you can get them at Inspired by Finn. here is the direct link::

he doesn't mess with it, so i am not at all concerned when he wears it around all day. he loves wearing it and squeals with delight when he sees me putting it on him. it has truly helped during tough teething days.
check 'em out!
