my contribution {“tribe” written over stripes}…
I was asked by the inspiring Erin of the blog “My Bohemia” to participate in the coolest creation dreamed up by Teeni. The details, instructions and participants are all here.
I am really honored to be part of this collaboration. Its another confirmation that blogs have truly brought communities together from all around the world and I love the idea of something tangible emulating this.
My contribution is a bit wonky. I am not at all a crafty bird…but what’s cool is, there was no pressure to be. I just did what came to mind and what that was is the powerful word “tribe” and how often these are built from this medium and how we are all so very colorful and unique. Its a symbol of how we stand together to celebrate that uniqueness.
I passed the blog friendship box onto Jessamyn…a kindred spirit in so many ways. A woman that inspires me to be more mindful in all things and more gentle in all ways. A new friendship I am exploring and reveling in.
I am off to Squam. I am so in need of being in the woods, surrounded by magical beings and warmth and acceptance and inspiration. Last year was so wonderful but I felt consumed with the upcoming adoption, which happened a few months after. I also got the call at Squam last year that Cedar was a boy and not a girl. Not sure if I ever told that story. ; ) We had thought he was a girl for quite a while. It was a beautiful adjustment…one that transpired circled by my lovelies near a roaring fire. So much support and help through that transition.
This year I feel more open and free. More light and alive. More chill and with no expectations. More in love and more loved. I look forward to marinating in every morsel of it.
Will be back on Monday. xoxox

i love that it's in your hands. this really warms my heart. it feels like a lifetime ago i wrote hope, believe, dream, and love on it (shaky handwriting from a very shaky time in my life)
tribe sums it up beautifully. it's what i'm embracing these days
enjoy squam! i hope to be there one day to experience it for myself. i'll be frolicking in the new hampshire woods in spirit, listen for my laughter in the trees

hi denise!
i love your blog and read it religiously.
i'm glad your post is about bringing communities together because that is exactly what i wanted to talk about…
here in philadelphia, we are in danger of losing all of our arts funding. it seems to be happening early october. i wanted to write you because i know alot of artistic people read your blog and thought you could offer some support or raise awareness.
this link describes the problem

the following are examples of the awesome things philadelphia has to offer but will be lost due to this economic problem of ours.

hugs from the north

Are you bringing sweet baby Cedar with you?? I'll be there too, and can't wait to meet you and all the other lovelies who will be there. See you soon!
September 15, 2009
baby cedar will not be attending. he will be reveling in precious, quality time with Omi and daddy.
i have mixed emotions. my heart is breaking leaving him but i also know momma needs to fill her cup so that i can come home and be the best momma and wife and friend and lover.
this is a test run…to see how it goes. it was impossible to bring him because this is also a work trip for me. i have a few photo gigs each day and daddy could not come to help out.
i have gone back and forth about going or staying but both Omi and my husband are fully encouraging me to go, go, go…
*sigh*

Hi! I 'stumbled' across your blog some time ago and have been reading back over your journey in little moments I have pinched (yep, a working mummy trying on the etrnal search for the elusive 'balance').
Anyway, I have been seeing a lot of synchronicity between your beliefs about connecting with the earth, the importance of the spiritual journey guided by something greater than ourselves and so on AND the beleifs that my husband shares. He is an Aborignal man from a remote region in australia. He grew up in a fairly traditional tribe, however with parents who wisely gave him tools to bridge the gap to the non-Aboriginal world as well. He is an artist (painter) who uses his art to communicate those very essential beliefs you are sharing here on your beautiful blog. I'm sorry this is such a LONG post, I just thought it was fascinating that two people on opposite sides of our amazing planet could have such similar thoughts.
If you are interested, you can see some info about the reconciliation project he has been working on with a NY photographer at http://www.nomadtwoworlds.com

It's funny how small the world is. I came to your blog a while ago via Mainemomma Kristin, and stayed around to follow your adoption journey, as an adopted person I find your story quite amazing. Anyway, I had the box too, I painted the inside, in my little kitchen all the way down here in NZ. And now it is with you
Happy Birthday.
